Important Notes

*Due to a change to institutional reporting requirements under federal law, beginning with tax year 2018, we will report in Box 1 the amount of qualifying tuition and related expenses you paid during the year, as opposed to the reported Box 2 (amounts billed) in tax years of 2017 and prior.

For 2018 and forward only: Box 1 shows the total payments received from any source for qualified tuition and related expenses. Please visit the Tax Credit Information page for more information.

For 2017 and prior years only: Charges for the spring semester were typically billed the December before the semester began if the student had already registered for courses. If Box 7 has a checkmark, the amount in Box 2 includes charges for the following spring semester. Likewise, charges from spring of that calendar year may not be included, as those could appear on your prior year 1098-T form. Please view the Amount Billed Details to determine what charges are on your 1098-T.
